The exams will be administered by the Wisconsin Office of State Employment Relations (OSER) on behalf of S&B, following the same rules as weekday exams administered by S&B staff. The Saturday exams will include all exam types offered by S&B except that for the Soil Tester Certification. S&B will continue to offer a separate set of exams on weekdays in four locations, dates and sites of which are listed on credential applications along with information about OSER exam sites. S&B credential applications are available online: http://commerce.wi.gov/SB/SB-FormCredAppList.html After a credential application requiring an exam has been processed by S&B, the applicant will receive a letter from S&B confirming the exam date and location, regardless of whether the exam is administered by S&B or OSER. If special accommodations are needed to take an exam, contact S&B, 608-261-8467, prior to submitting an application. (Not all S&B credentials require exams.) About one week before exams at OSER sites, the applicant will also receive from OSER an additional confirmation letter that must be taken to the exam. The letter confirms date, time, building and room location, as well as exam type and length of the exam. Applicants should contact OSER with any questions after receiving an OSER confirmation letter, 608-267-1013, or by email, wicertexams@wisconsin.gov. Questions regarding the new exam opportunities can be directed to S&B, 608-261-8467, or email, madisoncred@commerce.state.wi.us. Document Sales now sells many S&B training publications Many of the Safety and Buildings Division’s training publications are now being distributed by the Document Sales unit of the state Department of Administration. The change will allow customers to use credit cards to purchase via mail, fax, telephone, or in person, and will lower the cost of the document. The publications are mostly plumbing code training manuals, but also include old elevator codes, and code commentaries for the Uniform Dwelling Code and Rental Weatherization. Documents Sales currently produces and sells the Comm 83 POWTS manuals, and all the state administrative codes. Located at 202 South Thornton in Madison, Document Sales will sell: Cross Connection Control; Drain and Vent System Design; Sizing the Water Supply System; Water Treatment Handbook; old Elevator Codes, and POWTS Inspectors Handbook. The new endeavor will be a print-on-demand service that will use electronic documents provided by S&B, while freeing up S&B storage space and staff time. The printing inventory costs will be eliminated for the division, which will no longer sell the publications. Document sales will produce and distribute the publciations for less than S&B could. You can reach the Document Sales Web site by going to the S&B site, http://commerce.wi.gov/SB/SB-DivPublications.html, and select "Document Sales - General Overview. " The Document Sales toll-free telephone number is 800-362-7253 (Madison local 264-9419) and the email address is docsales@ doa.state.wi.us.
