Midwest Hardwood Corporation Project to Retain 56 Jobs in Park Falls

Governor Jim Doyle recently announced that Midwest Hardwood Corporation, Park Falls, Price County, will receive a $100,000 Community Development Block Grant-Economic Development (CDBG-ED) loan from the Department of Commerce.

"Manufacturing is at the heart of Wisconsin's economy," Governor Doyle said. "This project will continue to expand the industry, stimulate the economy and retain good jobs for the community."

Midwest Hardwood Corporation dries and sells lumber. It operates facilities in Reedsburg, Park Falls, Fountain City, Jackson and Mellen. It is modernizing and re-equipping its Park Falls sawmills to improve competitiveness. The project will retain 56 jobs. Total project cost is $1.25 million.

The CDBG-ED program awards grants to businesses that seek to expand or relocate to Wisconsin. Businesses interested in the CDBG-ED program should contact their Commerce Area Development Manager.
