"Succeeding in International Sale" Seminar Set For February 27 in Shawano

The Wisconsin Department of Commerce (Commerce), in cooperation with Shawano County Economic Progress, Inc., announces their International Sales seminar on Tuesday February 27 in Shawano. This unique seminar will be held at the Best Western Village Haus at 210 N. Airport Drive from 9am to noon and a continental breakfast will be served.

"This is a terrific event designed for businesses already engaged in international activities or who are getting involved with international trade," says Commerce Secretary Mary P. Burke. "I encourage anyone wanting to learn more about the ins and outs of international sales to attend."

According to John Konkel, International consultant with the Wisconsin Department of Commerce International Division, international trade can hold a lot of potential, but companies must be prepared and must learn "the rules of the road" of international trade.

It is very important to learn about some of the many services which are available to companies that can assist with international trade. The state has offices in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Europe and China to help you do business in those countries, to help you find distributors and sales representatives and to help with international market research.

Commerce can also provide one-on-one counseling on a wide range of issues dealing with exporting products to global markets. There are grants, (up to $5,000), available for Wisconsin firms to attend/show products at foreign trade shows enabling Wisconsin companies to participate in well organized trade missions to foreign countries.

Speakers at the seminar include Nancy Burton, VP International Banking of Associated Bank, Green Bay and Michael Howard, Midwest Regional Director of the Export-Import Bank of the U.S.-Chicago.

Space is limited for the event, so make reservations early.. Seating is available for $20 per person and registration fees include breakfast. For information and to make reservations, contact SCEPI at 715-526-5839 or via email at scepi@frontiernet.net.
