Department of Commerce Secretary Mary P. Burke presented the following awards at the Governor's Conference on Minority Business, Marketplace 2006 today in Milwaukee.
"Governor Jim Doyle's new initiative, 'Get Started, Get Growing' calls for expanding the economic opportunities for minority-owned businesses," said Secretary Burke. "I am pleased to announce the winners of this year's Minority Business (MBE) awards to model examples of flourishing MBEs."
Minority Business of the Year: Husco International

Industry Description: Manufacturer of tractors, backhoes and automotive applications located in Waukesha, Wisconsin
Entrepreneurial Excellence Award: Manutec, Inc.
President & CEO: Mr. Irv M. Palmer
Industry Description: Metal fabricating, structural steel sign post, guard rails, and dozer blades; also supplier of steel and production machining.
Distinguished Minority Business Award: Analytical Process Laboratory, Inc.
President & CEO: Mr. Jitendra Shah
Industry Description: Metallurgical testing and environmental analysis of toxic and hazardous waste oil, sludge, metals and wastewater.
Distinguished Minority Business Award: U.S. Foods & Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
President & CEO: Mr. Rajan Vembu
Industry Description: Research and development of preventive health and bio pharmaceutical products for the food science and dairy industry.
