Funding to Travel to Japan Available from JETRO

Wisconsin exporters of medical devices, automotive parts and technology that may be ready to establish a sales/warehousing and/or service facility in Japan can have many of the costs of a week-long exploratory trip to Japan covered by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Medical device firms are scheduled to travel to Saitama, Shizuoka, and Kobe on December 3-9, 2006. Automotive-related firms are scheduled to visit Hiroshima and Nagoya (home to Toyota) February 5-10, 2007. JETRO will pay for round-trip business class airfare to and from Japan, hotel accommodations, program-related ground transportation, and English-Japanese interpretation services. Each program will include business and networking meetings with Japanese companies; seminars on the Japanese market and industries and how to set up an office in Japan; and field trips to offices, factories, and R&D centers in different regions of Japan to study the area's local investment environment and regional business incentives.

Given the nature and the objective of the program, applicants are requested to be in a managerial or higher executive level position in a privately-held company.

For more information, please contact Taka Hagisako, JETRO Business Advisor for the State of Wisconsin, thagisako@commerce.state.wi.us, (608) 266-9487. The application deadlines are October 20 for medical device firms and November 10 for automotive parts and technology firms.
