Overseas Office Directors Visit

Staff of Commerce's five overseas offices recently completed their annual visit to the state. Madgda Völker and Claudia Tommaselli (Brazil), Nancy Ward (Canada), Paul Swenson and Jane Zhang (China), Kara Smith and Kate Clarke (Europe), and Vince Lencioni and Marcos Hernandez (Mexico) traveled to Wisconsin in time for the 41st annual Wisconsin International Trade Conference held on Tuesday, May 17 in Milwaukee.

During their visit they also participated in a reception with the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WMEP) board of directors, a meeting of the International Credit Executives (ICE), the International Exporting Summit 2005 in Wausau, the Oshkosh World Trade Day 2005, and a meeting of the Madison International Trade Association.

They also conducted numerous one-on-one meetings with Wisconsin firms seeking to enter or expand their sales efforts in various markets around the world. Several directors stayed a few extra days in order to speak at the Wisconsin Technical College's 10th Annual Summer Institute on International Education.

The annual visit allows the staff of the overseas offices to develop or re-establish contacts with businesses in Wisconsin. They have a chance to follow up with firms with whom they worked in the past and are introduced to new firms that could use their assistance in evaluating market viability, identifying potential agents/distributors/end-users, or other solving other export issues.
