Exporting to Canada Seminar

Canada is Wisconsin's best international customer and the destination for over one-third of the state's exports. Because of its market size, proximity, and similar business culture, it is usually the first international market that beginning exporters tackle. However, Canada presents issues to study and address before trying to do business there.

The Wisconsin Department of Commerce and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection will be sponsoring a one-day work shop to address the ins and outs of successfully exporting to Canada. Speakers from Revenue Canada, Canadian Border Services, the State of Wisconsin Trade Office in Toronto, and the private sector will address:

  • Why Canada is the market for beginners
  • Delivery options and documentation
  • Tariffs and Taxes
  • Crossing the border - goods shipments
  • Crossing the border - business trips
  • NAFTA benefits and documentation
  • State export promotion services

The seminar will be held on Wednesday, September 28 in Wausau and on Thursday, September 29 in Pewaukee. The cost of the seminar is $50. For more information, contact Stanley Pfrang by phone at (608) 267-0639 or by e-mail at spfrang@commerce.state.wi.us.
