WIFrontDoor Housing Website Available to Housing Providers

Statewide property owners and managers seeking to advertise rental housing for low to moderate-income households can do so for free on the new Department of Commerce (Commerce) WIFrontDoor Housing website.

"One of Gov. Jim Doyle's top priorities is making sure first-rate, affordable housing is accessible to low to moderate-income residents," said Department of Commerce Secretary Cory L. Nettles. "The WIFrontDoorHousing database is the most comprehensive in the nation. It will simplify the housing search and advertising process by offering a free-of-charge listing service for housing providers and giving tenants free access to rental information through on-screen search locators."

The WIFrontDoor Housing website will provide a statewide directory of affordable public and private housing units available for low to moderate-income households. Housing providers can quickly and efficiently list affordable housing units, post vacancies, and remove leased units. They will be able to list property amenities, post photographs, rental agreements and much more. The site was developed with generous financial support from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority.

The housing website is available as of today for property owners and managers to list rental units. The website address will be published and made available to prospective renters in early January 2005. To list a property or to access the database, send an email to fdhelp@commerce.state.wi.us. For additional program information, contact Marty Evanson, Department of Commerce, at 608/267-0713.
