Governor Doyle Announces Funding for Municipal Building in Osseo

MADISON - Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the City of Osseo, Trempealeau County, will receive a $262,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant - Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program of the Department of Commerce to help fund a municipal building.

"Investing in area development projects is important because it allows city residents to take full advantage of public resources and come together as a community," Governor Doyle said. "We must continue our support for projects like this that will improve overall community development."

The construction of a new 8,7161-sq.-ft. building located downtown is now underway . The facility will house a community/senior center, including space for meals and get-togethers, a city hall and police station, as well as provide a place for the local Historical Society to relocate their artifacts for display, storage and meetings. The development will also include a 38-stall parking lot with green space and rain gardens Total project cost is $1.5 million.

CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
