Governor Doyle Announces $250,000 Loan to Spectra Print to Expand Facility, Create Jobs
For Immediate Release: January 14, 2010 Stevens Point Company Will Create 44 Jobs MADISON - Governor Jim Doyle announced today that Spectra Print Corporation in Stevens Point will receive a $250,000 Community Development Block Grant for Economic Development (CDBG-ED) loan to expand its operations, a project that will create 44 jobs. The funding announcement builds on Governor Doyle's efforts to Grow Wisconsin and create and preserve family-supporting jobs. "Strengthening Wisconsin's economy has always been a top priority of my Administration," Governor Doyle said. "Through my Grow Wisconsin plans, we've focused on spurring innovation, leveraging investment, and creating jobs. To ensure a strong future for the state, we will continue to support companies like Spectra Print that are committed to providing jobs for hardworking Wisconsin families." Since taking office in 2003, Governor Doyle has worked aggressively to create and retain jobs in Wisconsin. Under Governor Doyle's leadership, Wisconsin has gained some of the most powerful economic development tools in the country. The budget Governor Doyle signed earlier this year made unprecedented investments in Wisconsin businesses, including powerful new tax credits designed to keep and add jobs. The budget also offered companies major new incentives to spur research and development and gave investors new tools to promote start-ups and new companies. The Governor's efforts have strengthened a continuous drive to modernize and grow all segments of Wisconsin's economy. Located in Stevens Point, Spectra Print Corporation has more than 40 years of experience as a full service printer. It is a leader in all phases of equipment and technology, from digital to oversize color-feed presses to web presses. The company is purchasing the assets of another printer, which will allow it to expand and attain production synergies. Spectra will use its loan for working capital. The project is expected to create 44 jobs and represents $800,000 in total investment. -30- |
