Town of Amherst Delegated to Enforce Commercial Building Codes

For Immediate Release: January 27, 2009
Contact: Tony Hozeny, Department of Commerce, 608-267-9661

MADISON - Department of Commerce (Commerce) Secretary Dick Leinenkugel, today announced that Commerce has delegated the Town of Amherst, Portage County, the authority to conduct inspections of all commercial buildings located within the municipality.

"The Town of Amherst joins more than 190 other state municipalities that have been delegated the authority to conduct inspections on behalf of Commerce," Leinenkugel said. "This gives municipalities the opportunity to provide services on behalf of the state as well as their own enforcement activities on projects within the scope of their delegated authority. Typically municipalities can provide more immediate service to local projects."

Under agent delegation agreement, Jonah Molzahn will be responsible for inspections for the Town of Amherst.

Municipalities seeking further information regarding the commercial building agent program should contact Henry Kosaryzcki, Commerce, at 608/212-0138. Owners seeking submittal information to the scope of their projects can contact the Town of Amherst or Henry Kosarzycki.
